As a member of the surface design and textile artists community, I like to keep informed about the work of other artists and events in my community and around the world.
Surfacing, www.surfacing-tada.com, is the journal of the Textile Artists & Designers Association, based in Toronto.
The Ontario Craft Council, www.craft.on.ca, promotes and celebrates craft and craftspeople, and provides invaluable advocacy and educational public programming.
The Surface Design Association, www.surfacedesign.org, publishes the quarterly "Surface Design Journal", supporting education and the exchange of ideas in the field of surface design.
The Spertus Judaica Prize was established to recognize exemplary work in Jewish ceremonial art, and is sponsored by the Spertus Museum, part of the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago www.spertus.edu.
Shadowland Theatre, http://torontoisland.org/shadowland/, is a Dora Award winning group who create street theatre and design costumes, sets and props for theatre, festivals and special events.
Sometimes creativity runs in the family! My sister, Kathy Hart, www.kathyhart.com, creates one of a kind Judaic objects in silver. Her work has been exhibited at the Jewish Museum in New York and the Spertus Museum in Chicago, and can be found in synagogues and private collections worldwide.
